As you meet in homes this week, I want to challenge you to look at B’shalech in a different light. Typically, B’shalech is about the miracle of Pharoah letting go of Yah’s people, but let’s turn it around this week and ask the question, “What happens when we let go of what was and into what is?
My motivation this week was to write down some questions to help break down the challenges we face. By reading about the people involved this week’s study we may come to know the presence of YHWH and how He directs us in letting go of the past while moving us into the present. Do you care to study?
Ex. 13:17-17:16–Order of Key Events:
Pharoah lets Israel go. God leads his people on a long journey. Israel fears God over the Egyptian army due to the miracle at the Red Sea. The Song of Moses is sung. YHWH provides water, manna, meat, the Sabbath, water from the Rock, and victory over Amalekites
Question: How do you see the plan of salvation and redemption in these events? What part of the journey are you presently living in? Are you ready to go into battle when YHWH calls? What does it take to ready you for spiritual warfare? Who is on “team Moses” and why?
Judges 4:4-5:31–Summary of story:
The Prophetess Deborah tells Barak to lead an army. Barak won’t go unless Deborah goes with him. Victory will now belong to the hands of a woman.
Question: Are women included in leadership, if so, how? What does this have to do with your maturity or faith? How does this battle represent spiritual ones?
John 6:15-71–Order of Events:
Yeshua walks on water, gives words to the people about “signs.” Yeshua confronts Jewish leaders and presents a teaching that causes most of his followers to leave.
Question: How does our corrupted human flesh and soul affect our understanding of Messiah? Does Yeshua speak to your spirit and how can our spirit listen to Him?
Matt 14:22-33–Peter is rescued from the waters.
Question: What does water represent? Who does Peter represent? Where are you in this story?
May you be blessed this Sabbath as you fellowship with one another and dig into the Word. Will you be able to find the common thread? Ask YHWH to move you in growth as you drink from His water.
