Are you ready to begin a new Torah cycle? Are you excited to have YHWH point out new revelations to you? I know I am. The other day, I saw something I had never recognized before. I couldn’t believe it. I have studied the Torah religiously for the last 22 years and found myself hesitant to do it again. My motivation had grown stagnant. “What should I be reminded of or better yet, what new thing could I possibly find?”
Nonetheless, even with this poor attitude, Yah directed me to another golden nugget needed for my life.
It was found in Genesis 2:2-3. In this text, I found the only day of creation where Yah does not state an evening and a morning. It just says that Yah blessed this seventh day and sanctified it. All the other days, mention that the work done was good and that there was an evening and a morning. Why?
Of course, I immediately looked up other scholars to find out their points of view. And yes, there were many. So, I decided to ask The Spirit to show me insight, which was given to me: The Sabbath is a day for which Yah completed His work and rested. The phrase, “He rested” is found in Strong’s Hebrew #7673 as the word Shabath, meaning to cease from work and celebrate. It is not directed at me at this particular point but is directed toward YHWH. It describes His kind intention to celebrate something morning or evening.
We are told that YHWH is a “Good Father” (Matthew 7:11) and that He is the “Strong Ox” (The Aleph) of the household. He is Abba. We are told He knows the very number of the hairs on our head (Lk 12:7). So, without much speculation, I am gathering that He desires to actually be with His children forever. This thought motivated me, for if Yah took the time to create and celebrate a life as small as me, then I am all in. I want to know His Word over the daily grind of the mundane. I’m ready for life. The Sabbath He gave us to “remember” as found in Exodus 20 is only a small portion of His “day of rest.” For His “day” is much bigger than just 24 hours. But at least, I can have a taste of being with Him. Which of course, leads me to another question, “Is this the reason Paul reminds us in Hebrews 4 that we cannot enter (or fully appreciate) His rest without claiming the blood of Messiah?”
So, what will keep you motivated to be in His word during this new Torah cycle? Are you ready to throw out the normal excuses of being too tired and not having enough time? Maybe you are a person who needs a study partner to stay on target. Maybe you need to set aside a particular time in the day to be guarded. Whatever challenge you may be facing, I want to encourage you to take the Word of Yah seriously. He does provide answers.
This last week during Sukkot, I met with people who were very good at asking “why.” It caught me off guard, in that I found myself needing to provide Scripture to them for proper answers. I needed to be reminded that His Word was much more important than any words I could provide. It made me realize how important it is to know His Word.
Time is running short on this earth and we are all looking for meaning in our life. May I humbly suggest that the answers are found in His Word. Read it. Digest it and rest in Him—your Creator.
Be blessed,
Rollyn
