This week, MVF is encouraging you to open your home for fellowship with others. I know this can make some of you rather anxious. You might have questions like what do I do? How can I lead a study? What does fellowship look like? You might even have excuses like my house is too small or too messy. Though in the midst of doubt, I want to challenge you try some good ‘ol Sabbath hospitality. What do you have to lose?
Before you move forward, consider the following:
Fellowship means mutual friendship or company. In this case, your most valued mutual companion is Yeshua your Messiah. Let Him direct you in picking someone to invite. Stop the worry and just get on your knees. Knock on His door and wait for an answer.
Secondly, meditate over the Scriptures for this week’s study. Then listen to the Holy Spirit once again. Ask, “What area in this week’s study would be of interest to those I am asking to
come over. What would interest me as well?”
Set the spiritual tone in the home. Bless your home before people arrive, then dedicate your Sabbath to Yahweh. Be determined to stay free of gossip. Focus on what Yahweh has been doing. Listen to others. Be curious about what they do, where they have been, and things you may have in common.
Finally stay clear of worry. A warm heart, honest questions, and a willingness to explore is the basis of good Bible-centered fellowship. If you draw a blank as to what to do, consider the following ideas:
- The meaning of VaYetze is: “And He Went Out.” So, focus on who went out, where did he go, why did he do so, and what type of circumstances were involved? Ask if anyone has been in a similar position? Why and how?
- What are some common themes woven into the Biblical texts given this week?
- What characters in this week’s study can you relate to? Why and how.
- Have children or adults come up with a skit that represent a particular theme.
- Yeshua spoke about Scripture in parables. What allegories can your group create?
- How do certain events in this week’s study line up with modern day events?
- Look for interesting words that stand out in the study and how they may be important.
Be blessed in the joy of the Lord this Sabbath,
Rollyn
