How Are We To Pray?
As with all questions we refer to Yahweh’s Word.
(1 Thessalonians 5:17) “Pray without ceasing” Does this mean we do nothing but
pray? No. We pray when we think on a concern or are presented with an
opportunity to pray for someone or something.
(Philippians 4:6 ESV) “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by
prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to
God.” If you are worrying too much on who is in the White House or is Oregon
Governor, then follow Phil. 4:6. Railing and ranting amongst each other does
nothing but bring division.
Pray for your enemy.
(Matthew 5:44 ESV) “But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who
persecute you,” If you feel our government is the enemy—pray for them to receive
salvation, deliverance or healing of their brain.
(Romans 12:17-18 ESV) “Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is
honorable in the sight of all. When wronged, we as followers of Yahshua are not to
become violent in rhetoric or physicality, but remain calm and know YAH is in
charge—not us.
Pray for peace.
(1 Timothy 2:1-2 ESV) “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are
in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in
every way.” America has no king, no ruler and no dictator, despite what many yell
in the streets, e.g. No Kings March. We are called to pray for our government
leaders.
(Romans 12:18 ESV) “If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with
all.” It is up to each of us to follow Paul’s direction. This means when we disagree,
we must not fall into the trap of abandoning the person, group or fellowship
because of political, sovereign or operational guidelines; but reconcile amongst
each other to put those differences aside and become echad in Yahshua.
(Psalm 122:6 ESV) “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who
love you!” Our Heavenly Father knows our heart and knows who and what we pray
for. Don’t let the noise and bad players keep you from praying for the Heart of this
earthly world—Jerusalem.
Pray for each other.
(James 4:1-2 ESV) “What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it
not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so
you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not
have, because you do not ask.” I find it hard to add to this. Yahweh does not want
us arguing, but discussing, midrashing and not condemning.
(James 5:16 ESV) “Therefore, confess your sins (faults) to one another and pray
for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has
great power as it is working.” Let us get real and support each other instead of
holding back the blessings that come with Brothers and Sisters praying for one
another.
(Romans 12:12 ESV) “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in
prayer.” Rejoice! Be Patient! Be in Prayer! These three things are part of the
foundation of our faith. Exercise your faith and rejoice we live in a country that
allows us to pray as we wish……. PRAY!
In closing:
(1 John 4:4 ESV) “Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for
He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” Be strong and know that
YHVH is ELOHIM and there is NO other greater.
(Philippians 1:9 ESV) “And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and
more, with knowledge and all discernment,” This is my personal pray for all who
read this, that as you ask for wisdom and knowledge in how to pray, and that you
will abound more and more into being like Yahshua.
Blessings,
Jay
