Political events in Oregon for the week of January 24, 2026, were centered on preparations for the
upcoming legislative session, local government redistricting, and widespread protests marking the first
anniversary of President Trump’s second term.
Protests and rallies are gaining speed; Free America & Walkouts: More than 15 walkouts
were planned across Oregon on Tuesday, January 20, to protest the anniversary of President Trump’s
return to office.
MLK Day / And Day Without an Immigrant: On January 19, hundreds gathered at the Oregon State
Capitol for a Day Without an Immigrant rally to support immigrant communities and protest ICE
activity. The event saw brief tensions and one arrest following a confrontation with counter-protesters.
Eugene MLK March: Over 1,000 people participated in a march through Eugene on January 19,
which featured themes of unity and resistance against federal immigration (ICE) policies.
We as Believers in Yahshua can pray (maybe should pray) against evil and deranged legislative bodies.
We can go to these kinds of events (above) to take the side of morality and be a witness: verbally or
silently. We can become active in running for office to be a voice of common sense and biblical values.
We can vote for what we believe is right to combat wrong. But we all live under the rules that are drafted
and passed to become Oregon law.
As for me, I am blessed to be right where I am, living in a beautiful state with mega volumes of
water, farms, ranches and wildlife. There are good people all around me and a wonderful group of
Believers make up my home congregation: Mid-Valley Fellowship, Silverton, OR.
