Torah Re’eh – See!
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 11:26 – 16:17
YeshaYahu (Isaiah) 44:11 – 45:5
Yochanan Alef (1 John) 4:1-6
You’re alive! We’re not dead! Thank Abba the enemy of our souls isn’t having his way with us! Think about the reality of what’s going down in the streets of Amerika from the top down!
The Death Cults of Our Day
It’s all out in the open now. ‘Vice President’ Kamala Harris ‘gaffed’ in a speech stating: “When we invest in clean energy and electric vehicles and reduce population…” (7/14/2023). Bill Gates is on record stating the ‘need’ to reduce the population of humans on planet Earth. Even the CDC admits that vaccines do not reduce COVID fatalities.
You know the purpose for engineered food shortages, famines, sequestering CO2 away from plant life, the FDA and EPA authorizing poisons and toxins in the food supply, just to name a few strategies of the kingdom of darkness – not to mention abortions, transgender surgeries, pharmaceutical side effects, etc. We live in a world of death cults at high levels of authority in this world. What is truly their purpose? Reducing worldwide population, killing us off – what else could it be? It’s not just a conspiracy theory anymore.
The People of Israel Live!
But yet we live! Not only that, Yah’s people are productive and multiply! One thing I love about the Hebrew Roots Community, that I’m aware of, is all the families with two parents, some large with lots of children. At the Mid-Valley Fellowship, we’ve celebrated far more newborn babies than the deaths of mishpocha. Where else in America do you see the reproduction rate of a community like ours far exceeding that of our society’s death rate? Thank Abba for life and family! Praise YHWH Elohim!
Am Yisra’el chai! The people of Israel live! Despite strategies and works of darkness to destroy our families to kill us off, we, like the people of Israel down in Egypt, are vigorously multiplying and becoming more of a threat to the tyrannical rulers of our day.
Seeing a Blessed People who Shema
What you can see among us is the blessing of our Father in Heaven among the people of greater Israel. The contrast is sharpening between those who serve El Chai, the Living God, and those who serve the death cults of the adversary of our souls.
“See (Re’eh), I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse: the blessing if you shema (hear, believe and obey) the commandments of YHWH your God, which I am commanding you today… Deuteronomy 11:26-27
To Shema is to be blessed. To hear the commandments of YHWH, obey His voice and to do them is to walk in the blessings promised to us by our Elohim. They come with the covenant! Blessings are part and parcel in keeping with our covenant relationship with YHWH our Elohim. May Abba send laborers into the fields to bring in more souls!
On Mount Gerizim, we read that ‘to shema’ brings in blessings. He promises to lift His people above the nations. Let’s fast forward to Deuteronomy 28:1 (LITV)
And it shall be if listening to you will listen (shema, shema) to the voice of YHWH your God, taking heed to do all His commandments which I command you this day, YHWH your God shall give you to be on high above all nations of the earth.
Here we see a double emphasis on the word shema, written twice. More important than for me ‘to see’ is for me ‘to hear’ with a believing heart trusting in His word, intending to obey His voice as a charge for my life. Seeing YHWH do miracles, seeing His provision during the famine, seeing him multiply His people thriving among death cults – just seeing doesn’t bring us into a blessing. Seeing His blessing inspires us to hear Him with a heart intent on obeying Him. It is then that we can walk in the abundant life that Yeshua promises, despite the thief who comes to steal, slaughter and destroy us (John 10:10).
In case we didn’t get it the first two times, Moshe emphasizes the Shema a third time:
And all these blessings shall come on you and overtake you if you will shema (hear, trust and obey, listen to) the voice of YHWH your God.
You shall be blessed in the city, and you shall be blessed in the field.
The fruit of your body shall be blessed, and the fruit of your ground, and the fruit of your livestock, the offspring of your oxen, and the young ones of your flock. Deuteronomy 28:2-4, LITV
On the heels of the Shema, to us belong the blessings of Abraham and of his seed multiplying like the stars in heaven (Genesis 22:17; 26;4), despite the many strategies and efforts of the world powers to destroy us. It’s no wonder our Savior started with the Shema when answering the Torah scholar asking which commandment was first of all:
“The first is, ‘Shema Yisra’el, YHWH Eloheinu, YHWH echad. (Hear, O Israel, YHWH our God, YHWH is One.)” Mark 12:29. We must listen to the voice of only One God!
One thing Hebrew teachers need to stress over and over again is this most important command, lest it not be foremost in our hearts and souls. Lest we miss out on blessings.
Choosing Life in our Diet
Hebrew scholars are far too inclined to major in the minors, the minutia, such as what meats qualify to be eaten and which animals are not kosher.
Even among the dietary restrictions in this portion (Deut 14), we see the principle of the greatest blessing – life itself. A common thread that runs through the animals not kosher to eat is that the unclean animals are those that eat carrion and other dead materials – like swine, raptors, and bottom-feeding fish. We are not to eat any carcass, nothing that dies of itself. We are to choose life (Deut 30:19) in all our choices, including what we eat.
Even the Barren Reproduce More!
Should a barren woman feel out of place among the children of the covenant? What reproduction is YHWH ultimately looking for among His people? The prophet Isaiah foretold the offspring who are ultimately what our Father in Heaven wants multiplied:
“Sing, barren one, who has not given birth. burst into singing and shout, you who have not travailed. For more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married one,” says YHWH. Isaiah 54:1
How can this be? How can the barren have more children than reproductive, married mothers? What offspring could there be for a barren woman to sing and rejoice about?
Anyone who teaches Yeshua was only a man and is not divine is to say that He cannot be reproduced within the hearts and souls of human flesh. Our Torah portion tells us to be on guard for such false prophets and to eliminate them from among us (Deuteronomy 13). What test for a false prophet did the apostle John give us regarding reproduction?
Loved ones, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see if they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.
You know the Ruach Elohim by this – every spirit that acknowledges that Messiah Yeshua has come in human flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Yeshua is not from God. This is the spirit of the anti-messiah, which you have heard is coming and now is already in the world. (1 John 4:1-3, TLV)
Was John just talking about Messiah Yeshua coming in His own flesh through the virgin Mary? No, much more than that. John was talking about the Spirit of Yeshua coming in your flesh, my flesh, whosoever would shema – hear, believe, and obey the Gospel to be born again. Yeshua said: “You all must be born from above.” (John 3:7)
How can a barren woman have more children than the married one? By sharing the Gospel with anyone who will shema – hear, believe, and obey the Messiah Yeshua. Then, she can sing and rejoice with the angels over a new soul/spirit born into the Kingdom of Heaven!
Living Life Completely Filled with Joy!
What better way to enjoy our new life in the Messiah Yeshua than to dwell with His people rejoicing in an eight-day festival, called Sukkot? Here is a commandment to Shema – hear, believe, and obey:
Seven days you will feast to YHWH your God in the place He chooses, because YHWH your God will bless you in all your produce and all the work of your hand, and you will be filled with joy. Deuteronomy 16:15
What could keep you from coming to a festival where ‘you will be filled with joy’ (TLV)? Money can be one thing.
Yes, it costs money and it takes resources and energy to drive to a festival and camp for eight days. Hey, but our good, good Father has a provision for you! His commandments are not burdensome (1 John 5:3).
You can use a third of your tithes for the three major festivals, Sukkot being one of them. The Torah gives us the principle for using tithes for festivals like Sukkot.
Where can I find that? Read about it in this Torah portion. According to Deuteronomy 14:22-28, the children of Israel can save up a third of their tithes for giving and spending when going up to where He places His Name. In Exodus 23:14-19, the men were commanded to go to that place not empty-handed, for the three main festivals, Sukkot is one of them. You can even spend money on yourself to eat or drink as your heart rejoices!
You may spend the money on whatever your soul desires – cattle, sheep, wine, strong drink, or whatever your soul asks of you. Then you will eat there before YHWH your God and rejoice – you and your household. Deuteronomy 14:26
Putting these sets of verses together, tithing for Sukkot is a principle commonly encouraged among Hebrew Roots believers. So let’s live it up this Sukkot!
See and choose Life, choose blessing, choose Messiah Yeshua – the Way, the Truth, and the LIFE!
B’rakhot BaShem Yeshua HaMashiyach,
Blessings in the Name of Yeshua the Messiah,
