Nitsavim begins with the words, “You stand today, all of you, before Elohim your God.” Deuteronomy 29:10
What an acknowledgment. Israel comes before the King of Kings to stand in His presence to accept the call to be a “righteous nation.” As a body, Israel humbled itself as a nation and as individuals. “Standing before” means to be humble or bow down, which in our terms, means to accept.
Israel’s call to stand did not take on a feeling of waiver or fear. Nor did it take on the idea of doubt. Instead, it refers to a unified body of strength made up of individuals who are in one accord. Consequently, in their acceptance, YHWH makes two important promises to those standing in the present and in the future (Duet. 29:10-15):
- Israel may now enter The Covenant of the Most High. They may enter His Chamber
- Israel may now be established as His people. They are to be His Bride
So, who are the “all” coming before the Great I Am–to stand and accept a promised covenant? It’s a body similar to what we find in Romans 9 and I Corinthians 12. It is Jew and Gentile. It is a leader and laborer. It is Husband and wife. It is children. It is the newly converted. It is a prophet and a teacher. It is a hand and a foot. It is the Priest and the layperson, as well as the servant. The “all” are those willing to accept YHWH’s gift of restoration. The “all” is a body made up of different people, parts, and talents, who are willing to use their gifts to be a part of a Kingdom promoting everlasting spiritual glory.
As we come into the Feast of Trumpets, to accept or deny the workings and call of The King, will we be unified? A nation divided will fall. A nation united will conquer. The Messiah spoke to the apostles on the Road to Emmaus (Lk 24) as well as in the private upper room (John 20:21-22) to prove the truthfulness of His Covenant. He then breathed the Spirit upon them for a given task. That task was to spread the Promise of a King who can give Life to anyone who asks. Are you ready to stand? Are you ready to belong to the Kingdom of Life?
Stand up and be counted. Stand up and claim the victory given to you from your wilderness journey. Stand up and minister to another.
Be blessed this Sabbath,
Rollyn
