Greetings MVF Family! Iwill be taking some time off from writing in order to refresh myself. Thank you for understanding.
If you are someone who looks forward to this blog, I thought it would be appropriate to share 7 basic rules I like to follow before sharing a Scriptural opinion. If curious, read below!
- Read through the Torah, the Writings, and the New Testament portions with no agenda. Instead, ask the Spirit to show you what is needed in your life.
- If the Portions only include selected verses out of a book chapter – read the entire chapter. For instance, if the reading is for Matthew 5:13-20, read all of Matthew 5.
- Find out who is writen, why they are writing, and who they are writing to.
- Typically, you will read something that is unexpected and seems hard to understand. This is a great place to start. Hidden gems are found in these places.
- Use your Interlinear Bible to find out the meaning of words and phrases. It will guide you towards your Strongs Concordance. Always consider the context of the words and phrases. Stay clear of using your own personal bias.
- See if you can find a common link between the Torah, Writings, and New Testament portions. What is similar and what kind of picture is being drawn out?
- Write down a short summary of what you found, then meditate on it during the week. Ask the Lord to show you what is meant and how you can apply it to your life.
I want to encourage you to become a student of The Word. There are so many treasures to be found, not just for knowledges’ sake, but for a complete life change. I know you might be tempted to read the Bible to prove something to someone else. But over the years, I have it more beneficial to read and learn for the sake of personal growth. In doing so, The Word changes our heart, soul, and mind so we can honestly love our neighbor as ourself.
Be blessed,
Rollyn
