Can you Hear?

Posted on September 15, 2026 by MVF Silverton

This week Angie and I celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary along the Deschutes River in Eastern Oregon.  As we floated down the river, the quiet beauty overwhelmed us.  We stopped to listen. When we did, we could “hear” for miles.

The study of Ha’azinu means to “give ear.”  This of course, would lead us to a natural question, “what should we give ear to?”  In both Deuteronomy 32 and 2 Samuel 22, we read the “songs” of Moses and David, where two of the mightiest men in Scripture, express the denominator of truth in song.  What was the truth they found in their journey?

Song of Moses: “For I proclaim the Name of YHWH ascribe greatness to our God!  The Rock!  His work is perfect, for all His ways are just.  A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He.”  Duet. 32:3-4

Song of David: “YHWH is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my strong hold and my refuge; My Savior, Thou dost save me from violence.” 2 Sam. 22:2-3 S

The songs of David and Moses could have proclaimed their own sphere of influence or greatness, but they both had learned to listen to the songs of life given to them; songs filled with success and failure.
Consequently, their songs reflect a strength outside of themselves.  Their music is about the ways of Yah.  Their songs only proclaim and worship the Living Elohim.

In modern day terms, Moses and David stood on the Rock that could not be moved by any mortal man for it is too awe-inspiring to interpret or budge on our own.  This Rock is what we are called to “give ear” too.  In doing so, our worldly concerns are dwarfed into submission, causing us to hear sounds we have never taken the time hear before.  Songs of refreshment.

One day soon, The Rock, Yeshua our Messiah will explode on this earth to bring in a new and glorious Kingdom.  He will reign with justice.  He will deliver us from the deceptive noisy tactics of the antichrist who seeks to destroy relationships, governments, and families through lawless and deluding influences.

Believe it or not, we have all been given a song from Yah.  That song is called life.  Can you hear it?  If not, find a quiet place and tune in.  You might be surprised to find a rock of truth that has always been with you.  Trust in Him and lean not unto your own understanding.  Acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.

Be blessed this Sabbath,

Rollyn

2 Timothy 1:9

9 He has saved us and called us to a set-apart life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Yeshua ha'Mashiach before the beginning of time,
